Deluge Scales & velocity (Clip/track view)

Scales

Obviously, go to Synth mode.
To changes scales :
Shift + Scale button.

The Deluge will cycle through the 7 Western-music scales: major (ionian), minor (aeolian), dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, and locrian.
Scales on the Deluge will usually contain seven different notes.
(sometimes there will be more notes - for instance, if both a major 3rd and a minor 3rd are present when entering scale mode, both will be added to the scale.)

The deluge is quite clever as it can detect if a note you entered is in the correct scale.
If not , it will try to guess where that note will be 

The root note (at every octave) is indicated, anytime that a clip is in scale mode, with its audition pad permanently illuminated.

Any change that you make to the scale while editing one clip will affect all others that are also in scale mode

If you wish to transpose a clip up or down, this can be achieved by holding down the ▼▲ knob and turning it. Doing this alone will transpose a whole octave at a time. If you wish to transpose just a semitone, then hold down the shift button as well while turning.

To sharpen or flatten a note
1. Hold the audition button.
2. Turn the select knob.

Note Velocity
This effects both synth & kits

The Deluge’s pads are not velocity-sensitive but you can still edit the velocity.
Changing velocity has the effect  of changing volume.
1. hold down the pad corresponding to a note.
2. turn the ◄► encoder. (Velocity values range between 1 and 127.)

1050 Mixer sequencer - Build notes

This is a Eurorack module inspired by the ARP 2500 mix sequencer.

There are lots of SMD components so it's probably not a good one for beginners.

Some NLC words of wisdom

This is great SMD soldering practice.
I like to get those ICs on first. These are SOIC.
The sequencer section uses one CD 4017 (decade counter) , three CD4071s (quad 2-input OR gate) and  one CD 4081 (CMOS Quad 2-input AND gate).


The 4017 decade counter is central to this sequencer.
Sending a pulse to the clock input (pin 14) sends a pulse out from each of the outputs in sequence.

A bit about gates.

 CD 4081 (CMOS Quad 2-input AND gate).
This is the truth table for the AND gate
I'm using a DG 212.
Here are the mouser details.

You can also use a DG 442. Just make sure it can handle +/-12V.
My DG 212 can handle +/-15V so should be OK.
It's an analogue switch. 4x SPST.

Some earlier versions of the DG442 require a voltage offset on pin12, the spaces for these resistors are on the PCB marked 100k* and 120k*.
New versions do not require these resistors, so check the datasheet for your  IC, if pin 12 is marked ‘NC’ you do not have to install these resistors.

My DG 212 has pin 12 marked as VL. so I will install the resistors.

Next install the rest of the SMDs.... lots of resistors & caps. These are 0805s
Parts marked "c" are 100K .

Then the through hole stuff.


Install jacks, switches first. Line up with panel.
Then pots. I used B100K.

Don't forget the ground wires for the jacks. I use left overs from caps & resistors.

Finally the LEDs

LED orientation : The long lead (anode) , (+) goes into the square hole on PCB.

Korg PS 3100 - Envelope Modifiers (EM)

These EMs establish the changes in volume that occur over time when a key is pressed.
It's basically a VCA with an attached envelope generator.

Looks simple enough. .... An attack, a Decay & sustain knob.

In addition to controlling the VCA, it also can be used to control the filters.... specifically their cut off frequency. This effect is controlled by the EXPAND knob in the filter section.

The RELEASE is interesting ... it's a switch with 3 settings:
Damped, half damped & release.



 Re the KBD HOLD switch:
When the switch is ON, all EM controls (with the exception of Attack) are disconnected.
To experiment with this feature:
1. Turn the attack knob to the range of 7 to10.
2. Turn on the HOLD switch
3. Press a number of keys , one after another leaving a small space of time between each.
     Wait ... about 5 secs if the attack knob is at 10... sound will suddenly appear.... in the order you played the keys . Set the attack knob to 7 if you wish to hear the sounds sooner.

To release the HOLD, turn attack to 3 or below & turn the hold switch to off.

Korg PS 3100 - Resonator

The resonator section is made up of 3 filters.
The top knob  adjusts the degree to which the resonator will effect the sound.


They may be set to resonate at a peak anywhere between 100Hz to 10KHz
The 3 resonator knobs will determine the frequency of the resonator peaks.


These filters are great for effecting the timbre.

The switch turns on or off modulation from MG2
The knob limits modulation from external CV which may be patched in via the patch panel to the right.
